From the bluff above the falls, Matthew and Rory continued climbing around a high cliff to the top of the falls. From there, we completed some unfinished business from the first trip to Cast Creek: measuring the height of Apparition Falls. Rory peeks out from the trees at the brink of the falls (above), while Matthew begins to lower a nylon line over the east segment of the falls, a few feet from Rory's perch. I monitored the progress of the line from below, and radioed Matthew when the line reached the bottom of the falls. The system worked perfectly, with the line perfectly stretched the full height of the falls. Upon returning to the trailhead, our meassurement revealed the falls to be 125 feet tall (below), easily exceeding the "magic" number of 100 feet that we had hoped for.
