Matthew and Rory make a surprising discovery at the top of the falls - the intials "BL" and the number "78" carved into an alder tree on the rock outcrop that splits Apparition Falls. Assuming that "78" means 1978, the mystery of Apparition Falls seems to have been solved decades ago. But who is "BL"? From this spot, Matthew and Rory also continued upstream to photograph the confluence of Cast Creek and Dumbell Creek, just upstream from the falls. (photo by Rory Nichols)
