Instantly
recognizeable from calendar art and art prints around the world,
Punchbowl Falls is easily the most famous waterfall along Eagle
Creek, and second only to Multnomah Falls in the Pacific Northwest.
This view from the short side-trail that decends to a gravel
bar just below the punchbowl is the classic image, and a must-see
for Eagle Creek visitors. The falls is best photographed in late
morning, when the bowl is briefly illuminated by sunlight.
As in the
previous image, you can see hikers at the brink of the falls
(left and above the falls), but don't try this. The view from
the trail is better than that from the lip, and much safer -
and this easy view from the base is the best of all!
