In the "it seemed like a good idea at the time" tradition, the group completed the precarious traverse of Disappointment Falls along the moss-covered north shoulder of the falls. Here, Jon scales the steep escarpment at the brink of the falls. After completing this sketchy route, we agreed not to attempt the return trip at stream level, and instead follow the 2004 route along the canyon rim. Our advice to other adventurers: the stream-level route past Disappointment Falls should only be attempted with a handline for safety.
