Through the Thorns
While Greg and Matthew dropped down "Cape Disappointment" to rescue the camera gear, the rest of the group continued along a new route that traced a bench, high above the canyon. The bench soon faded, though, and we dropped back down to the canyon floor through this side creek, where the slopes were covered with thorny salmonberry.

Upon reaching the creek, we maintained contact with Matthew and Greg on the two-way radios until we were able to rendevous at "Zigzag Beach". From there, it was a quick trip back to the departure point, where snacks and a cooler of beer and soda were waiting for us. Reflecting on the trip, Jim said "I am sure we have the elements of a great story." No argument from the rest of the team!
