Salmon River Gorge
1963 Naming Expedition
Final Falls
|
Final Falls is the
last of six major waterfalls in the Salmon River Gorge. Final
Falls drops 45 feet into a narrow box canyon. The members of
the 1963 expedition managed to reach river level for this photo,
taken from a ledge that I was unable to reach in our 1983 expedition
to the lower group of falls.
Final
Falls is located just downstream from Frustration Falls, and
is most often viewed from precarious cliffs that rise several
hundred feet above the falls. A smaller, unnamed falls visible
in this photo is referred to as "Upper Final Falls"
in these pages.
