Salmon River Gorge
March 1983 Expedition
Potholes Area
Another view of the potholes
stretch of the Salmon. In this section, the entire river flows
through this ten-foot wide chasm. Judging by the size of the
river as it enters this channel, we estimated its depth to be
at least fifteen feet. The eddy at the lower portion of this
photo shows one of the potholes, where a large rounded boulder
continued to grind a circular path into the bedrock. |
