Hemlock
Perhaps
the more graceful of alpine species, the mountain hemlock is
the dominant tree surrounding the meadows of High Prairie. The
gently drooping branches and thick clusters of tiny blue-green
needles distinguish this species from other conifers. Mountain
hemlock is prized as an ornamental landscape plant in the Pacific
Northwest.
